Nifty Nancy Candy Canes and Johnny AppleSeed

The kindest teacher named Nancy offers such best ideas and free activities on her webpage. She is so generous and creative it's truly a delight to find and share her blog with you. Although it's for Grade One there are many ways you can apply the activities for other grade levels. Inspiration this way: http://firstgradewow.blogspot.com Thank you Nancy! She truly deserves an award!

Barron made a beautiful candy cane craft from her blog (http://firstgradewow.blogspot.com/search/label/candy%20cane) where you take a piece of paper and then you colour along the edge (similar to a picture frame) and then you roll it and fold it and viola you have a homemade original candy cane:

We found a really inspiring posting regarding simularity of humans based on showing apples as people and how we are all the same on the inside found at: http://firstgradewow.blogspot.com/search/label/diversity

We thought it would be a good time to talk about a folk hero that most often discuss in the fall Johnny Appleseed. We found a neat webpage about him at: https://johnnyappleseedmuseum.org/ and some delightful books on Johnny Appleseed from the library:

These books were great because they discussed what can be known as a fact and what is concluded as a legend.

Sharing the same name as the wonderful blogging teacher, we wanted to introduce you to a lovely book series called Fancy Nancy by Jane O'Conner who makes enjoyable reads. These are some that we recently read:

**Updated: In July Barron participated in Outschool and did a scientific method and experiment regarding apples and browning. He tried an apple in nothing, water, coke, and 7up and found 7up prevented browning of the apple the best. although we did not place he did an excellent job as scientist Barron.
