We have decided to participate in The 30-Day Slow Down Childhood Challenge for the month of November. For this challenge we will work, "towards a slower family life and rhythm," as mentioned by the creator Nicolette Sowder in her welcome email. These are the activities Barron and I have completed for the Challenge:
Day One: Set a family intention- Say I Love You Everyday.
Day Two: Make a meal or snack together - We had Mary Browns and placed our portions into cardboard baskets.
Day Three: Howl at the full moon evening sky - We sounded delightful!
Day Four: Go Say Hello to the Sun- We did at our window in our room.
Day Five: Tell jokes together - We listened to Youtube videos.
Day Six: Create a cozy space or fort - A blanket tent was made and enjoyed.
Day Seven: Go outside and put your hands on the ground and take three deep breathes - We touched the sidewalk near our entrance.
Day Eight: Share roses and thorns around the dinner table- Barron said a good time was we were able to play Fornite and I said that we can try new challenges. A bad moment Barron mentioned was feeling disabled since he is not able to whistle and I said not giving your complete effort.
Day Nine: Draw a slow animal- We drew a snail.
Day Ten: Share a memory from childhood- Barron mentioned our first time watching cooks create teriyaki at the restaurant and I said when we did the Git Up Dance walking in a Streetsville subdivision to the Erin Mills Town Centre shopping mall.
Day Eleven: Skip at some point in the day- We did a skip in our room.
Day Twelve: Find a leaf or something in nature that is as unique as you- Barron found a pretty pure yellow leaf and I found a mixed orangie yellow leaf even though two days earlier there was our first snow fall.
Day Thirteen: Send something in the mail or put a surprise in someone's mailbox- Barron and I wrote a note of encouragment in our Kinder World app which sends it randomly to other users of the app's virtual post box.
Day Fourteen: Craft a little reminder of slow- something to hang where you'll see it everyday- Barron and I created a
Day Fifteen: Say No to something this week- We said no to playing a game.
Day Sixteen: Eat By Candlelight- We enjoyed supper with our battery operated candle lantern and a candle timer on the screen from YouTube.
Day Seventeen: Leave a gift for zip in nature- we watched YouTube Channel MovieSquirrels and liked some videos and donated earlier to feed the squirrels, birds, and other critters.
Day Eighteen: 5-4-3-2-1 Find 5 things: 5 you can see, 4 you can hear, 3 you can touch, 2 you can smell, & 1 you can taste. 5 things we see the tablet screen, the Bible, the laptop, the bottle of water, and a paint brush. 4 things we can hear are turning of a rubic cube, lock and key opening, jingle bells, and lip balm lid closing. 3 things we can touch are spruce and pine needles, pinecone, and air from the fan. 2 things we can smell are our pumpkin scented candle and tiger balm. 1 thing we can taste is freshly popped buttered popcorn.
Day Nineteen: Lean against a tree and release anything heavy from the week. Barron and I did the Tree Pose and released negative thoughts.
Day Twenty: Choose one little way to slow down your morning. Well Barron stopped to take care of me I was not feeling very well so we snuggled and he helped me mend.
Day Twenty-One: It's Friday Have a dance party! Barron and I danced for a bit to Just Dance Song.
Day Twenty-Two: Take a lantern walk.
