Pollinators, Some Neat Numbers, A Sequence, and a Tower

    Today we refreshed our memory bank and discovered a few more team members that could be considered Super Hero Pollinators. We think the drawing from Blossom and Roots is so sweet as is this video:  https://youtu.be/pnBoM4idf1

We also explored some very interesting numbers. We also discovered a very interesting Italian man named Leonardo Fibonacci and his sequence that reveals itself in nature and swirls. Thank you so much to the team at Blossom and Roots and their free autumn issue The Three Sunflowers sowed with love at: blossomandroot.com/book-seeds-by-blossom-and-root-coming-soon/  This issue introduced us to this fascinating talented individual. Fibonacci taught us that 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 is a sequence, however so is this 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 although it does not seem so. The first is regular skip counting by 2's the second actually has a pattern like this: 0+1=1,   1+1=2,   1+2=3, 2+3=5,  3+5=8,  8+13=21,  13+21=34,  21+34=55   so the last number added to the next reveals the new number to be added to the sequence. Word of the Year

    What a treat to find this free printable at: apopofpretty.com/word-of-the-year-printable-workbook/ For our 2022-2023 term we will each create a word and use it. 



Barron has decided his word will be supergetti and mine will be courage (kind nourishing type). I did not have access to a printer so we created a page similar (with a few stylizations) from the free download.

Reminder:
Synonym: one of two or more words or expressions of the same language that have the same or nearly the same meaning in some or all senses.
Antonym: a word of opposite meaning.

Story Cubes and a Budget Friendly Mentos Version

   Story cubes are a phenomenal product. Besides using these to create a story I believe one could use them to create poems, use it to tell a story about an important person in history, use it to tell a story in another language one is learning, use it to act out a performance, use them to find a quote about the topic picture, use it to create a rap or a commercial jingle or a song, use it to paint a picture, use it as a scavenger hunt, use it to find a book or a song or film based or containing a picture. If you are on a budget until you can save for some of these cubes or are going babysitting or travelling and do not want to lose your favourite set (if you are travelling in a car or at a picnic) why not try a budget friendly version that you can share or create with others until he or she can own this amazingly wonderful product. You need mentos or gum, a sharpie marker, and your imagination. Create images on both sides of the mentos/gum and begin story sharing or poem creating or use the image to learn other languages and the vocabulary you associate with that image. This also makes for a neat game for couples to play or if you are visiting grandkids or nieces and nephews. Enjoy your creative journey.
